The 2021 Tempranillo Wonderful Nightmare entices with a stony funk and savory herbal tinge that gives way to spicy red fruits and hints of tangerine. It’s soft and round, with vivid blackberries complemented by hints of sour orange and rosy inner florals. The 2024 Treana Red Blend opens with aromas of rich dark fruits, tea leaf, and subtle hints of cedar and pencil shavings from oak aging. On the palate, layers of fig jam and juicy dark fruit are balanced by a savory characteristic, creating a wine with depth, complexity, and a smooth, lingering finish.
Exuberant and expressive! Classic Zinfandel spice, brightly fruited and well structured, delightfully juicy and just downright delicious. Dark raspberry, blue fruits, soft tannins, and deeply pleasurable. This wine punches so far above its weight it’s in a class of its own.
Organically farmed, own-rooted, head-trained and dry-farmed vines planted in 1915 in the silica-rich sandy soils of the east side of the Mokelumne River AVA. Potent, perfumed, and incredibly deep. Redolent of cocoa, pineapple grass, roast lamb and herby meat marinade. Complex and dynamic, with silky smooth tannins.

Union Sacre is best known for Alsace-inspired whites, so a Paso Robles Cabernet is a bit of a plot twist, and a welcome one. The winery was founded by two longtime friends who arrived on the Central Coast from opposite ends of the earth: Xavier Arnaudin, a French-trained oenologist and former boxer, and Philip Muzzy, a self-taught designer from Michigan. That French sensibility shows up here as restraint. Fermented in concrete tanks, this is a Cabernet built for drinking now rather than for a decade of waiting, with deep dark fruit, a spice-and-tobacco edge and tannins that stay smooth. Paso Cabernet with balance on its mind.
