The Barbera d’Alba DOC in Italy’s Piedmont is famed for its tangy, cherry-like red wines made from Barbera grapes. For over a dozen vintages, this Barbera has been a standout in our Reserve Series, always over-delivering as a delicious, versatile, and chillable red that pairs with a variety of food and occasions.
This wine is made by a third generation small family winery who also produces our Lot 26 Barolo. Harvested from grapes grown in calcareous clay soils near the town of Monforte d’Alba, the berries undergo a soft crushing followed by a temperature-controlled fermentation using select yeasts. The result is an intensely fruit forward wine bursting with dark fruits.
A burst of freshly squeezed lemon opens on an expressive nose alongside fragrant notes of apple blossoms and grilled pineapple. The mouthwatering entry, marked by lemon chiffon, develops into a creamy, textured mid-palate with notes of melon and minerality. Finally, quenching layers of grapefruit, pome, and gooseberry develop, contributing further intricacies that unfold throughout a mouth-coating finish.

Bright ruby-garnet. On the nose, bright fresh cherry, pomegranate, candied violet, rose petal and flint. On the palate, elegant and fresh, with floral and spice notes wrapped around a core of fresh cherry fruit. Finishes long, with mouthwatering acidity and a consistent beam of minerality through the finish.
Sophisticated and delightful aromas of tangerine and rhubarb. The palate entry is delightfully citrusy and sweet; the midpalate phase offers just enough herbal bitterness to balance. Ends up refreshing, orangey sweet and delectably herbal. This deserves to become a popular pre-dinner quaff.
