The 2021 Pontet-Canet is a blend of 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 6% Petit Verdot. Deep purple-black in color, it pops from the glass with vibrant blueberries, Morello cherries, and cassis scents, plus suggestions of violets, cinnamon stick, wet rocks, and forest floor with an exotic touch of cardamom. Medium-bodied, the palate has very finely grained tannins and well-poised freshness supporting the perfumed black fruits, leading to loads of minerally sparks on the finish of this very bright and shimmery wine. Harvest started on 24 September with Merlot, followed by the Cabernets and Petit Verdot on 4 October, and finished on 12 October. The wine is to be aged in 50% new oak barrels, 35% amphorae, and 15% 1-year barrels.
Region: St. Georges-St. Emilion, Bordeaux, France.
Intense purple robe. Rich fruity nose of ripe Merlot: chocolate and toasty oak flavors. Fresh red fruits with fresh strawberry notes, light spices, harmonious tannins, with exceptional freshness. It has all the characteristics of ageing potential and concentration.
Fresh and vibrant aromas of black currants, chocolate, licorice, graphite and spices. The palate is full-bodied with a juicy mouthfeel and a balanced, fruit-driven finish. Very pleasant.
The color of this wine is clean and brilliant. Its nose is complex and bears the marks of late summer hail. If we find ripe fruits, prune, fig, crushed strawberry, but also pepper, it is the notes of dried flowers, hay and dried fruits (almonds) which mark this weather, bringing a beautiful aromatic complexity . On the palate, it is a concentrated wine where the smoothness of Grenache is balanced by precise tannins.
A finely constructed cabernet showing the freshness of the cooler 2023 vintage but still with all the Paso generosity. Aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry and cassis with notes of graphite, cedar, black olive and spice. The palate is full-bodied with finely tuned tannins, bright acidity and a polished mouthfeel. A blend of 90% cabernet sauvignon with touches of petit verdot and cabernet franc.
This complex Cabernet releases black and blue fruit along with sweet oak notes of toast, charred wood, and vanilla. Decadent, layered and wonderfully balanced, it offers a voluminous feel, medium-full tannins, and excellent balance. Aged for 18 months in a combo of French and American oak.
