The bitter cold of January in Chicago is all it takes to imagine a vacation getaway. For us this month, we picture the beautiful regions of Croatia, where Dalmatia and Šibenik and its surroundings are full of breathtaking natural beauties, such as numerous and picturesque vineyards adorned with sunny slopes. If only we could be there strolling the streets with some Cevapi in hand; These tasty grilled sausages are the ultimate Croatian street food! Or even better, taking in the smoky, cozy aromas of ‘Ispod peke’: a regional meat and vegetable dish that is cooked under a terracotta or iron lid and over burning embers.
While we talk of the food and the wine, the beauty of Croatia is nothing short of magical. And it is exactly this kind of magic, with the “perfect” Croatian wines, that we hope to provide you with this month. Whether you think of the beautiful waterfalls to cool you off in hot Croatian summers, or stepping into Dubrovnik and taking in the breathtaking location for Game of Thrones famous King’s Landing, these two wines will transport you there and have you toasting, Živjeli! after the first sip.
